Planning to step out today? Think twice. From Gowliguda to Tadbund, much of Hyderabad shuts down, slows down, or dries up — here’s what you need to know before you leave home.

What Is Happening Today, And Where Does It Start?

The Sri Veera Hanuman Vijay Yatra kicks off from Gowliguda Ram Mandir at 11:30 am and winds its way to Sri Hanuman Temple in Tadbund, covering roughly 12 km.

At least 168 processions are expected to converge into the main yatra, including 14 tributary processions — one from Karmanghat — and 92 smaller local ones across the commissionerate. Traffic diversions will be in place from 9 am to 8 pm.

Which Roads Should I Avoid Today?

Give these stretches a wide berth between 9 am and 8 pm:

The main procession travels from Gowliguda Ram Mandir through Putlibowli Crossroads, Andhra Bank Crossroads, DM&HS Circle, Kachiguda Crossroads, YMCA Narayanguda, RTC Crossroads, Ashok Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Kavadiguda, Ghasmandi, Bata Crossroads, MG Road, Paradise, CTO Crossroads, Balamrai, and Tadbund Hanuman Temple.

A separate procession from Karmanghat Hanuman Temple enters the city at Champapet and passes through Champapet Crossroads, IS Sadan, Dhobi Ghat, Saidabad, Moosarambagh, Malakpet, Nalgonda Crossroads, and Chaderghat before merging with the main procession at DM&HS Women’s College junction — covering 10.8 km.

Areas around Malkajgiri-Anandbagh Road, ECIL Cross Roads, Sainikpuri-Yapral Road, Tarnaka-Habsiguda, Karmanghat, and LB Nagar are also likely to see heavy congestion.

Are Liquor Shops Shut Today?

Yes — and the dry day covers most of the city. Liquor outlets in Malkajgiri, Hyderabad, and Cyberabad will remain closed from April 2 to April 3 for Hanuman Jayanti.

In Cyberabad, the closure runs from 10 am to 10 pm, ordered under Section 20 of the Telangana State Excise Act, 1968. Though, police have exempted star hotels and registered clubs from the ban.

Are Buses And Heavy Vehicles Affected?

Yes. Entry of heavy vehicles, RTC buses, and goods carriers is restricted on identified stretches during Yatra hours. RTC buses will also be diverted based on necessity along the procession route. Check TSRTC’s social handles for live rerouting updates.

Where Can I Park If I’m Attending?

Designated parking for devotees has been arranged at Tadbund — specifically at Dhobi Ghat, Hanumanth Reddy Complex, and open spaces near Imperial Gardens in Karkhana. Expect strict enforcement of no-parking zones elsewhere; vehicles parked illegally will be towed.

How Do I Get Live Traffic Updates Or Reach Emergency Services?

In case of emergency, commuters may contact the traffic helpline at 9010203626, or updates will be available on the Hyderabad Traffic Police Facebook page and on X handle @HYDTP. You can also dial 112 for emergencies.
