Iranian missile hits Qatar’s oil tanker, all crew safe

Qatar has confirmed that an oil tanker contracted by state-owned Qatar Energy was struck by an Iranian cruise missile on Wednesday in the northern territorial waters of Qatar. The vessel, identified as Aqua One, a fuel oil tanker, was hit in the early morning hours of April 1, 2026. According to Qatar’s defence ministry, two other missiles were intercepted during the attack. The tanker’s 21-member crew was evacuated immediately, and thankfully no casualties were reported. Qatar Energy stated there was no environmental impact from the attack, though the level of damage is still being assessed. The British military’s United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Centre confirmed earlier that a projectile had slammed into the side of the ship. The incident marks a significant escalation in regional tensions involving Iranian military action against commercial vessels in Gulf waters.
