A woman from Amroha was secretly in love with her elder sister’s ‘devar’ (brother-in-law) — and had been, even before she got married. But instead of letting go, she carried the affair into her marriage. Her husband eventually found out, and refused to look the other way. That decision cost him his life.
After her arrest, police uncovered the full story — a relationship that started before the wedding, a husband who discovered the truth, and a wife who plotted his murder rather than give up her lover. A secret she refused to let go of ended a man’s life.
The incident occurred in Piplauti Kalan village under the Hasanpur police station. The victim, Mehraj alias Miraj, was a 30-year-old mason.
Police arrested three people in connection with the murder — the wife, her lover, and a third accomplice. Two knives and two mobile phones were also recovered during the investigation.
How The Crime Unfolded
Amar Ujala quoted inspector Rajesh Kumar Tiwari of Hasanpur police station, Mehraj had discovered his wife’s affair and strongly opposed it. This led the lovers to plot his murder.
They sedated him by spiking his milk with sleeping pills, and then killed him — along with accomplice Adnan, a resident of Burauli. The wife’s lover has been identified as Farman. All three were produced in court and have since been sent to judicial custody.

According to the publication, the trouble in Mehraj and Ruhi’s marriage had been brewing for days before his death.
According to Istkeen, Mehraj’s aunt, the breaking point came on March 21 — Eid — when a dispute broke out between the couple. From that day on, there was no reconciliation. Ruhi had made up her mind: she refused to live with her husband.

The publication further quoted villagers saying that the incident has torn apart what was once a normal, functioning family.
A dispute that began on a day of celebration ended in tragedy — and two innocent children are now paying the price, the report stated.
The ‘Most Heartbreaking Part’ Of This Murder
The most heartbreaking detail of this case, perhaps, is what five-year-old Farhan woke up to.
The child had been sleeping on the same cot where his father was murdered. When Mehraj’s throat was slit, blood splattered onto Farhan’s clothes. By morning, the bed was soaked in blood — and his father’s body lay beside him.
Farhan woke up to that. The little boy was terrified. He had no idea that the woman who had tucked him in the night before had just had his father killed.
Other Gruesome Murders In The Area
According to Amar UjalaHasanpur has seen this kind of crime before. In 2008, a woman named Shabnam — alongside her lover — murdered seven members of her own family in Bawankhedi village, including her parents, brother, and sister-in-law. It remains one of the most chilling cases the region has ever seen.
This is not the first time since then that a woman in the area has conspired with her lover to kill her husband.
For Hasanpur, tragically, this is becoming a pattern, the report stated.
