Dewald Brevis played for CSK for the first time in IPL 2025.
Dewald Brevis of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has been ruled out of the first 2-3 matches of IPL 2026. According to news reports, Brevis is suffering from a side strain. A day earlier, MS Dhoni was also out of the team for two weeks.
Sarfaraz can play in place of Brevis
Matthew Short or Sarfaraz Khan may get a chance in place of Brevis. Chennai Super Kings will play their first match against Rajasthan Royals on March 30. After this the team will face Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Dewald Brewis has scored 455 runs in 16 matches of IPL.
Nathan Ellis out of the team
Chennai fast bowler Nathan Ellis is also out of the entire season due to hamstring injury. Spencer Johnson has been included in the team in his place.
Dhoni may be out of 3 matches
If Dhoni remains out for full 2 weeks i.e. 14 days, then he will not be able to play at least 3 matches. The former captain is currently undergoing rehab due to a muscle strain. In a social media post, CSK said that he has a calf strain.
Dhoni is currently 44 years old. He is the oldest player in IPL 2026. After the injury of Ruturaj Gaikwad last season, he had to captain Chennai midway. He led the team to victory in 3 out of 4 matches.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni is at the first position among those who have played the most number of matches in IPL. He has played 278 matches so far.
