Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar shared a heartfelt note marking two months since the death of her husband and former Deputy CM Ajit Pawar and remembered him as a guiding force whose presence continues to shape public life and personal conviction.
“Dada, Today marks two full months since you left us. Time marches on, but my heart remains entangled in memories of you. In every moment, your absence is felt so keenly, and at the same time, your presence lingers on in the daily political and social affairs,” she wrote on X.
Reflecting on his leadership, she highlighted his connection with people and his long-term vision:
“Your people-centric and development-oriented personality, the deep emotional bond you shared with the common folk, your relentless drive for work, and the far-sighted vision behind every decision—these will forever guide me. You were not just a leader; you were a pillar of faith, strength, and hope in the lives of countless people. Because of you, many found direction, opportunities, and the power to stand on their own feet.”
Dada, it has been two months since you left today. Time moves on, but the mind is still engrossed in your own memories. You are sorely missed at every moment and at the same time your presence is felt in the day to day political and social affairs. She further stressed continuity within the political movement he helped shape, rooted in enduring ideological values:
“The journey of our Nationalist Congress family, rooted in the ideals of Shiv-Shahu-Phule-Ambedkar, continues unbroken, inspired by you. When making decisions for public welfare in these circumstances, I strive to take each step keeping in mind what you would have done.”
Ajit Pawar died in a plane crash on January 28, 2026, a sudden loss that created a leadership vacuum within the party and the state government. In the weeks that followed, Sunetra Pawar was elevated to the post of Deputy Chief Minister and the chief of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), marking a significant political shift and her formal assumption of executive authority.
