US Israel Iran War Latest News Updates Today: Amid the escalating conflict in West Asia, U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday announced he was once again postponing the deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face devastating strikes on its power plants.
Citing progress in talks to end the war, the President said he would now hold off for more than 10 days before targeting energy sites. It was the second time Trump had postponed the deadline.
“Talks are ongoing and, despite erroneous statements to the contrary by the Fake News Media and others, they are going very well,” the president wrote in a social media post, adding the deadline is now April 6.
The latest deadline follows Trump’s push for negotiation talks with Tehran. He has been ratcheting up pressure on Iran to accept the U.S.-backed proposal to end the conflict, warning otherwise “we’ll keep blowing them away”.
Iran has rejected claims that any negotiations are taking place, accusing the Trump administration of attempting to manage global markets.
IRGC Commander Killed
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced Thursday that the Iranian naval commander, Alireza Tangsiri, had been killed.
According to the IDF, he played a key role in shutting down the Strait of Hormuz.
