‘Lyari Raj’ Posters Surface In Lucknow, Attack SP’s 2012–17 Rule
Posters have surfaced across Lucknow comparing the Samajwadi Party’s rule in Uttar Pradesh to Pakistan’s “Lyari Raj”, targeting Akhilesh Yadav with a reference to its depiction in the film Dhurandhar.
The development comes days after a separate political jibe by Parvesh Verma, who referenced a Dhurandhar film character, gangster Rehman Dakait while targeting Arvind Kejriwal.
Lyari is one of the oldest and most populated, residential localities in Karachi, Pakistan.
‘Lyari Raj’ comparison
The posters compared the Samajwadi Party government to Lyari in Pakistan, a region often linked with crime and unrest. Slogans read, “SP’s Lyari Raj – we have neither forgotten nor will we forget.”
Several posters have been placed near the VVIP Guest House and other prominent areas in the city, making the comparison widely visible.
The posters highlight alleged crimes against women and the rise of land mafias during the SP government led by Akhilesh Yadav between 2012 and 2017.
Political reaction
Reacting to the campaign, Devendra said, “Just like there was terror in Lyari, there was ‘goonda raj’ in Uttar Pradesh from 2012 to 2017.”
He further added, “When the alleged terror links of Atiq Ahmed came out, SP leaders became rattled.”
