Kylian Mbappe denies reports Real Madrid scanned the wrong knee, says communication lapse fueled rumors as he returns from a left knee sprain before France vs Brazil.

Kylian Mbappe on Wednesday denied media reports claiming Real Madrid examined the wrong leg when the France star sustained a knee injury late last year.
The football show “After Foot” on French broadcaster RMC Sport reported this week that the Spanish club initially scanned his right knee instead of his left in December. Other media outlets in Spain ran similar stories, almost all of them citing RMC.
Mbappe played throughout January but was then sidelined for three-and-a-half weeks before making his latest comeback.
“The report that said that they examined the wrong knee is false,” Mbappe said at a press conference ahead of France’s World Cup warmup match against Brazil.
Indirectly Responsible
“I am maybe indirectly responsible for this situation, because when you don’t communicate about what’s happening, it opens the door to other people’s interpretations.”
The club announced in late December that Mbappe had sprained his left knee.
Mbappe said he has “very clear communication” with Real Madrid.
Have Made 100% Recovery
France plays Brazil on Thursday in Foxborough and faces Colombia on Sunday in Landover.
On Monday in Paris, Mbappe said his knee feels fine. He was used as a substitute in Real Madrid’s last two matches as he works his way back into form.
“There was a lot of frustration, a lot of anger, and then also some anxiety at one point,” Mbappe told French media late Monday at a promotional event. “I had reached a stage where I didn’t know what was wrong with me. I didn’t go through that period in the best way. I wasn’t the happiest player in the world. But I’m happy now because it’s truly behind me. It’s all gone.”
“I have made a 100% recovery,” Mbappe was quoted as saying to AS.
“I prepared for the last two World Cups in the best way possible, which is to play, score goals, win titles, and fight until the last minute for my club, and this year I am going to do the same to arrive in top form.”
