Markets will observe two more holidays in the coming week—on March 31 for Mahavir Jayanti and on April 3 for Good Friday.

Stock market holiday: Indian equity markets are closed on Thursday, March 26, 2026, on account of Ram Navami. This marks the second trading holiday in the month.
As per the official holiday calendar, both the BSE and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) will remain shut, with no trading across segments today. This includes the equity, equity derivatives, currency derivatives, NDS-RST and tri-party repo segments.
Trading on both exchanges will resume on Friday, March 27.
Commodity markets, however, will remain partially open. The Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) has declared a holiday for the morning session, with trading set to resume in the evening session from 5 pm.
Upcoming stock market holidays
Markets will observe two more holidays in the coming week—on March 31 for Mahavir Jayanti and on April 3 for Good Friday.
In April, exchanges will also remain closed on April 14 for Dr B R Ambedkar Jayanti. In May, there will be two holidays—May 1 (Maharashtra Day) and May 28 (Bakri Id). Markets will remain shut again on June 26 for Muharram.
There are no trading holidays scheduled in July and August this year, while a few holidays are lined up later in October, November and December for various festivals.

On Wednesday, Indian equity markets ended on a strong note, tracking a global rally amid hopes of easing tensions between the US and Iran.
The Sensex surged 1,205 points, or 1.63%, to close at 75,273.45, while the Nifty 50 gained 394.05 points, or 1.72%, to settle at 23,306.45.
