Bournemouth held Manchester United to a 2-2 draw at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday in their Premier League clash. Bruno Fernandes strike and an own goal accounted for United’s tally, while Ryan Christie and Junior Kroupi found the net for the Cherries in a match that also saw Harry Maguire sent off.
United were awarded a penalty around the hour mark when Matheus Cunha was brought down illegally in the area by Alex Jiminez. Fernandes stepped up and calmly sent the goalkeeper the wrong way, placing his spot kick into the bottom corner.
Controversy followed when Amad Diallo appeared to be fouled in the box, but the referee waved play on. Bournemouth broke upfield on the counter, and Christie finished the move by firing past Senne Lammens at full stretch.

“To give one and not give the other, I just can’t get my head around – it’s crazy,” said Carrick.
United regained the lead just minutes later when James Hill turned the ball into his own net from a corner, restoring the advantage for Michael Carrick and his side.
Maguire was then dismissed for committing a foul in the area on Brazilian forward Evanilson, with the referee again pointing to the spot.
“I can understand that decision (to send off Maguire) but we should have had another penalty and the game would have been different.
“I thought that was what VAR was for, to clear things up and consistency.
“It’s two different decisions, so a bit baffling really.”
Kroupi made no mistake from the penalty, running up with intent before smashing the ball home with 10 minutes of normal time remaining.
The result moved United to 55 points from 31 games, leaving them four points ahead of fourth-placed Aston Villa, who have a game in hand. Andoni Iralo’s Bournemouth climbed to 10th in the table, on 42 points from 31 matches.
