The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has announced the admission process for the 2026-27 academic year. This year, the application process for Class 1 is entirely online, with separate guidelines issued for kindergarten and higher grades. Competition is fierce due to the high-quality education and affordable fees offered at over 1,200 Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country.

The admission process in KVS starts today, March 20, 2026. Before applying, it’s important to be aware of changes in age limit rules and reservations. Those who wish to enroll their child in KVS, register within the deadline and prepare all necessary documents. Admission Timeline:

According to the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan’s schedule, online registration for Class 1 will begin on March 20, 2026 and continue until the first week of April. The first provisional admission list is expected to be released on April 8, 2026. Parents are advised to apply only through the official Kendriya Vidyalaya portal, kvsonlineadmission.kvs.gov.in.

Age Limit for Admission in Kendriya Vidyalaya:

It is necessary to follow the age limit for admission in Kendriya Vidyalaya. For admission in Class 1, the child must be at least 6 years old as of March 31, 2026. Applications for children above 8 years of age will not be accepted. Age requirements are as follows:

– 3 to 4 years for Balvatika-1

– 4 to 5 years for Balvatika-2

– 5 to 6 years for Balvatika-3

Note – Children born on 1 April are given an exemption in age calculation.

Documents Required for Admission in Kendriya Vidyalaya:

The following documents are required at the time of application and during admission:

– Child’s birth certificate (digital or notarized)

– Passport size photo of the child

– Residence proof (electricity bill, rent agreement or Aadhar card)

– Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/BPL) if applicable

– Service certificate and transfer details of the last 7 years for government employees

Reservation Rules:

Admission to KVS is based not only on merit but also on priority categories. Children of central government employees and military personnel receive priority. Additionally, 25% of seats are reserved under the Right to Education (RTE) Act. Seats are also reserved for Scheduled Castes (15%), Scheduled Tribes (7.5%), and Other Backward Classes (27%) as per regulations. Applications can also be made under the “single girl child” quota.

– Click on the registration link on the portal and choose ‘New Registration’

– Enter the child’s name, parent’s name, email, and mobile number

– After receiving the login code, fill out the form and upload the required documents

– Select three Kendriya Vidyalayas near you, submit the form, and keep a printout
