Dozens of people were killed and wounded when suicide bombers struck at least three sites in northeastern Nigeria’s Borno state on Monday night, emergency services told The Associated Press (AP). Officials have expressed suspicion of suicide bombings behind these attacks. Explosions were heard at three different places in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state. Maiduguri is the place where extremists of Nigeria’s own jihadist organization Boko Haram have been insurgent for more than a decade. According to Siraju Abdullahi, head of operations at Nigeria’s National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Maiduguri, the bombings occurred at a local market and the entrance of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.
