11 Indians in America have been accused of conspiring to obtain U-Visa by staging fake robbery incidents. America’s U-Visa is available to those people who are victims of some major crime and help the police in the investigation.
This allows them to live and work in America and can later get a green card. Investigation revealed that the accused used to carry out robberies in shops with fake weapons, so that the employees could apply for visas by pretending to be victims.
According to the US Justice Department, six accused appeared in the Federal Court of Boston, while the rest were arrested from Massachusetts, Kentucky and Ohio. One accused has already been sent to India. If proven guilty, the punishment can be up to 5 years in jail and a fine of up to $2.5 lakh.

Former Brazilian President Bolsonaro admitted to ICU, condition critical due to pneumonia
Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has been admitted to the ICU of the hospital in critical condition. 70 year old Bolsonaro is suffering from pneumonia.
Brazil’s DF Star Hospital said that he was admitted after high fever, chills and low oxygen level. Bronchopneumonia (lung infection) has been confirmed in the investigation.
According to Bolsonaro’s doctor, pneumonia can be dangerous in patients above 70 years of age because it increases the risk of septicemia (blood infection). Currently he is being given antibiotics and other medical support in the ICU.
Bolsonaro was convicted of plotting a coup after the 2022 elections. He was sentenced to 27 years in prison last year. He was accused of trying to overturn Brazil’s democratic system after losing the elections.
