Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has made serious allegations against the administration of former US President Joe Biden. According to the Times of Israel, he said that some Israeli soldiers lost their lives during the Gaza war against Hamas because the supply of arms and ammunition was stopped by the US. Netanyahu made this allegation in a press conference on Tuesday. He says that due to this ban, Israel had run out of necessary ammunition. However, he did not tell how many soldiers died due to this. The Israeli PM did not directly name the Biden administration, but said that this arms embargo ended when Donald Trump became President of the US. According to him, Israel started getting weapons again as soon as Trump became President. Netanyahu said he would create a strong and independent domestic arms industry to reduce dependence on foreign military aid. Netanyahu said that due to lack of ammunition, soldiers had to fight inside houses and many soldiers were killed. Netanyahu called for transforming Israel-US relations from aid to a partnership that includes development in Israel. He further said that such cooperation can also be extended to other partner countries including India and Germany. Their goal is to achieve maximum freedom in the field of arms, so that there is never any shortage of weapons or ammunition. America provides ₹ 32,000 crore aid to Israel every year. According to the report of War Power Israel, America provides military aid to Israel worth about 3.8 billion dollars (about Rs 32,000 crore) every year. This is mainly under the Foreign Military Financing (FMF), in which $3.3 billion is provided for general weapons purchases and $500 million for missile defense systems. This assistance is given under a 10-year agreement signed in 2016. It started in 2019 and will run till 2028. Under this MOU, a total assistance of $38 billion was promised, which is given in equal installments every year. This agreement was made during the Obama administration. The US Congress approves it every year. Apart from this, America has given additional assistance after the Gaza war starts from October 2023. A total of more than $21.7 billion in military aid has been provided for 2023-2025, which includes a special package of $8.7 billion in 2024. That continued at around $3.8 billion annually through 2025, and the Trump administration fast-tracked aid to $4 billion through emergency authorization in March 2025. Overall, around $17-22 billion or more has been provided since October 2023. Israel’s military ranks 15th in the world. Israel’s military power is considered to be the strongest and most advanced in the world. As of January 2026, Israel is ranked 15th out of 145 countries, according to the Global Fire Power (GFP) rankings. Its power index score is 0.2661 (the lower the score, the more power). After Netanyahu’s claim, Amos Hochstein, a top aide of former US President Joe Biden, has accused Netanyahu of lying. More than 66 thousand Palestinians were killed and millions of people driven from North and South Gaza are now spending days in tents without water, electricity and medicine. According to UN agencies, more than half the people are suffering from starvation. So far, more than 67 thousand Palestinians have been killed, including 18,430 children (about 31%). There are approximately 39,384 children listed in Gaza whose parents have been killed. At the same time, 17,000 Palestinian children have lost both their parents. Relief agencies say – this is no longer a city, just a camp of survivors.
