US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose 25 percent tariff on South Korea. Trump said that South Korea’s National Assembly did not approve the trade deal finalized with the US government. The Parliament of South Korea is not working as per the agreement made with America. Trump wrote on the social media platform Truth on Tuesday that I am increasing the tariffs on South Korea from 15% to 25% on autos, lumber, pharma and all other goods. There was a trade deal between the two countries. Trump said that South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and I had agreed on an important agreement for both the countries on July 30, 2025. Goods worth Rs 11 lakh crore are imported from South Korea. According to the data of the US Commerce Department, in the year 2024, South Korea exported goods worth about 132 billion dollars (about Rs 11 lakh crore) to America. In this, semiconductor and electronic products along with automobile and auto parts are prominent. Due to increase in tariff, the prices of these South Korean goods may increase in America.
