Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Moscow at 5 pm on Monday on his visit to Russia for the 22nd India-Russia annual summit. Here President Putin hosted a private dinner for him. During this, informal talks took place between the two leaders.

Putin said, ‘You are heartily welcomed. I am very happy to see you. Formal talks between us are going to take place tomorrow. Today we can discuss the same matters informally in a home environment.’

Modi said, ‘You invited me to your home. We chatted together this evening, that’s why you decided this. I am very grateful to you for inviting me to your home.’

Earlier on Monday evening, PM Modi was welcomed with a guard of honour at Vnukovo-2 International Airport in Moscow. During this, the Russian army played the tune of the Indian national anthem.

Today on Tuesday, Prime Minister Modi will participate in the India-Russia annual summit. Modi will also address a group of Indian expatriates living in Moscow today.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told news agency TASS that the meeting between President Putin and PM Modi will begin this afternoon. He said that this will be a private conversation. After this, both leaders will have breakfast. Many economic announcements can be made during the meeting between PM Modi and Russian President Putin today.

Deal possible between the two countries regarding new trade route
A deal can be finalized between Russia and India regarding the new trade route. Both countries can sign a new agreement to increase mutual trade. This trade route will connect India to Russia via Central Asia through Iran’s Chabahar port.

If this deal is completed, then the price of crude oil and other imported goods coming to India from Russia will fall. Along with this, India’s exports will also increase.

New defense agreements may be announced with Russia
New defence agreements can be reached between India and Russia. A large part of the Indian Army’s weapons and equipment still comes from Russia. Both countries are also working to produce weapons and equipment in India through joint ventures.

According to a Moscow-based think tank, a deal may be finalised between Russia and India for the purchase of new air defence systems, Sukhoi 30MKI and the licensed production of Ka-226 helicopters.

After the Ukraine war, there is also a delay in the delivery of spare parts imported from Russia. In such a situation, India will try to ensure that the weapons and equipment it receives are supplied on time. In such a situation, a mutual agreement can be reached between the two countries on new agreements for the production of spare parts and weapons in India.

India’s crude oil imports from Russia have increased substantially since the Ukraine war. Russia had reduced the price of crude oil after Western countries imposed sanctions on Russia. Despite the sanctions, India continued to buy cheap oil from Russia.

Even after two years of war, Russia is selling crude oil to India at cheap rates. In such a situation, India is trying to ensure that there is no shortage of oil available to it.
