A passenger slammed Air India for allegedly not providing the seat he preferred. Sharing a post on X, Guru Samy claimed to have paid a premium to block the seat and yet he was allotted a different seat. “I paid for seat 10A as being a kidney transplant recipient I wanted to be comfortable,” Samy’s post on X reads.

Air India responded to the post and assured a seat refund.

“Shame on you @airindia. I am flying to Bangalore on AI2845. I paid for seat 10A as being a kidney transplant recipient I wanted to be comfortable. But to my surprise I am allotted seat 22B. Firstly I have paid a premium to block a seat and I am shamelessly told that the payment is not to block the seat,” Guru Samy’s post reads.

He further claimed that the airline staff blamed him for not checking the boarding pass. “And then the staff is blaming me for not checking the boarding pass when it was given to me at the counter. And then the offer to refund the money. This is simply not acceptable. If you can’t block the seat why do you charge money?”

“This is not about a refund. This is about ethics.”

Air India Responded

Air India replied to Samy’s social media post and shared a brochure for information on eligibility criteria for emergency exit row seats. They also assured to arrange the seat refund.

“Additionally, we have notified our sales team to get in touch with your travel agency for the seat refund. We hope to offer a relaxing journey ahead,” the airline’s tweet reads.
