Jio Studios has issued a public notice for the film, media and entertainment industry. In this, you have been asked to be careful regarding your contractual rights related to Ali Abbas Zafar Films LLP and filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar. According to the report of Bollywood Hungama, this notice was published on 17 January 2026 in Atul Mohan’s Complete Cinema Magazine through King Stubb & Kasiva, Advocates & Attorneys. According to the notice, under the binding arrangement between Jio Studios, Ali Abbas Zafar Films LLP and Ali Abbas Zafar from September 30, 2025, Jio Studios retains the first and supreme rights on all current and future earnings. This earning can be in any form and is related to all the commercial engagements mentioned in the notice. The special thing is that this right is not limited only to projects made with Jio Studios. This applies to earnings from all media and entertainment works associated with Ali Abbas Zafar Films LLP and Ali Abbas Zafar personally. This includes projects, productions, collaborations, ventures and other work, whether Jio Studios is involved in them or not. Additionally, this claim also extends to other companies in which the LLP’s partners or directors have stakes, whether those companies exist now or are formed in the future. The notice also states that this lien will remain fully valid, enforceable and in continuous effect until all dues and interest owed by Jio Studios are paid in full. Jio Studios has advised producers, studios, financiers, OTT platforms, broadcasters and talent agencies to keep this lien in mind before entering into any kind of agreement and to inform Jio Studios if necessary. What do first and paramount liens mean? In simple words, lien means a legal right on earnings to secure the outstanding amount. First and Paramount means that Jio Studios has the highest authority and the payment will be made to it first. At the end of the notice, it is said that Jio Studios can enforce its rights by using all remedies available under the law. Ali and Jio’s partnership Ali Abbas Zafar worked with Jio Studios in the film Bloody Daddy in 2023. The Shahid Kapoor starrer was released directly on Jio Cinema and produced by Jio Studios, Ali Abbas Zafar’s AAZ Films and others. The film was also directed by Ali Abbas Zafar.
