Maruti will invest ₹ 35,000 crore in Gujarat: Will set up a new plant in Khoraj, Gandhinagar, 12 thousand people will get jobs

The country’s largest car company Maruti Suzuki is now going to increase its presence in Gujarat. The company has signed an investment agreement of ₹35,000 crore with the Gujarat government to set up a new manufacturing plant in Khoraj (Gandhinagar district) in the state.

Its investment letter was handed over in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Maruti Suzuki MD Hitashi Takeuchi in Gandhinagar on Saturday. This new plant is expected to provide employment to about 12,000 people in the state.

Will have the capacity to make 10 lakh cars annually

This new plant to be built in Khoraj will be spread over 1,750 acres of land. The company aims to manufacture 10 lakh (1 million) vehicles here every year.

Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) is providing land for this project. With this investment, Gujarat will emerge stronger as a major automobile hub of India.

Target to make 40 lakh vehicles by 2031

Maruti Suzuki aims to increase its total production capacity to 40 lakh units annually by 2030-31. At present the capacity of the company is around 24-25 lakh units.

Khoraj Plant will play a big role in fulfilling this vision. The company has also recently started work on its new plant in Kharkhoda, Haryana.

12 thousand direct and lakhs of indirect jobs

Welcoming this investment, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said that it will not only provide direct employment to 12,000 people, but will also give a boost to small and medium industries (MSMEs) in the surrounding areas.

This will create a complete ‘auto cluster’ in the state. Deputy CM Harsh Sanghvi also called it a proud moment for the growth story of Gujarat.

Maruti made production record in 2025

The last year has been a great year for the company. In the year 2025, Maruti Suzuki manufactured more than 22.55 lakh vehicles, which is the largest figure so far in the history of the company.

Cars like Front, Baleno, Swift and Dezire contributed the most in this. In terms of exports also the company has registered a growth of 21%.

Partnership between Japan and India will become stronger

This project will also take the industrial relations between India and Japan to new heights. Maruti Suzuki MD Hitashi Takeuchi said that Gujarat’s infrastructure and business-friendly environment are the reasons why the company is expanding here. This plant is a big step towards realizing the dream of ‘Make in India’ and ‘Made for the World’.
