When devotion and technology step together, faith takes on a new form. Singer and artist Kanhaiya Mittal has come up with one such unique experiment, who is coming up with India’s first AI driven film based on Lord Khatu Shyam. Through this film, not only religious stories have been presented in a new style, but the message of positive use of Artificial Intelligence has also been given. In this special conversation with Kanhaiya Mittal, he spoke openly on devotion, AI, art, struggle and his spiritual journey. You have come up with an AI based film on Lord Khatu Shyam, how and when did you come up with the idea of this? Through the AI film based on Khatu Shyam, we want to tell people basic things, like about the reincarnation of Khatu Shyam, how he was in his previous life, why he is called a loser. So we want to convey all this information to the people through that film. As far as why AI is concerned, we do not want to give God status to any actor and then people worship him, this is wrong from our point of view. After which we have taken this risk. Now that we have left home, we must do something, otherwise we will leave with experience. At present, the way actors are cast on mythological characters in Bollywood, like Ranbir Kapoor in Ramayana, do you think, is that right? Look, we are working in a creative world. Everyone has their own choice as to what kind of creation they want to create. There should be no comment on this. Some people offer laddus to God as an offering, while others offer kachori. Everyone has their own faith, everyone has their own mind. How will devotion and artificial intelligence complement each other? Tell us a little about that? If devotion comes in food then it becomes Prasad, whereas if devotion comes in a human being then he is worshiped like a God, look at the saints of our India. Now when we bring devotion into Artificial Intelligence, people will love it more, this is our belief. Is it only about Khatu Shyam that has been told through this film or does the purpose of making this film also give some other message? AI is our future, but it is unfortunate that people misuse it a lot. They make deepfake videos of anyone and start trolling them on social media. I believe and want to convey the same message that technology should be used properly. It should be used for good work. How was the journey of making this film through AI? Was this path easy or full of difficulties? It was not easy. Dialogue matches were never happening. Let’s say if a character had to be developed, it took time. But by Baba’s grace all the work got done automatically. And look, where I was expecting one song, I got the entire film. And after watching the film, 90 percent of the people told me that hey, this looks like a real shoot. Will you do any similar collaboration with AI in the future? Yes, we are going to bring many things using Artificial Intelligence. And for this we have many people who want to join and invest money. We are also making a way for them so that they can serve. In the coming time, they are going to make something by giving respect to the 36 communities of Jat, Yadav, Chamar, Valmiki who make Sanatan, so that this history reaches their children. How did Khatu Shyam ji change your life? How did God bring light into your life? Tell us about this experience. Millions of intentions are formed, they are broken after being formed, only those who are called by Baba are destroyed. So I am also one of those whom Baba called and showed the way. I have been singing Baba’s songs since the age of 7 and today it has been 28 years since I started singing bhajans. I don’t want to reach the destination, I just want to enjoy the journey. Not meeting Baba, just the desire to meet Him keeps me happy. I remember in 2016 I quit singing. The family members told him to stop singing bhajans and do business. Anyway, during the Covid era, we were not able to sing anywhere. It was a family business so we took it there. But I didn’t feel like going there and said let me go in the musical line only. Before 2016, I did not take money for performances, but in 2017 I got my first check of Rs 1 lakh. After this, I wondered who would donate next, but that year we did more than 200 programs with Baba’s grace, and never looked back. I would not call this experience a miracle that I got the money or that I earned it, rather the miracle is when things start working on your terms. Apart from films and songs, will we see you becoming active in politics again in the coming years? I am beyond politics now. I am made for music and my art. If I get a chance to serve in politics by singing, if someday Yogi Adityanath needs it, then I will definitely do it. It is not written in the life of an artist to fight, but to emerge and connect people with God, which is what I am doing.
