Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan, who is playing the role of late Haryanvi Colonel Hoshiar Singh, who received Param Vir Chakra in the film Border-2, met the colonel’s wife. During the meeting, Varun Dhawan touched his feet and took blessings. Both of them also talked about the film.

Varun Dhawan is busy promoting his upcoming film Border 2. In the film, the actor plays the role of Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, a gallant Indian Army officer who fought in the India-Pakistan War of 1971 and was awarded the Param Vir Chakra (PVC). A video of the pre-release event has surfaced. In which Colonel Hoshiar Singh Dahiya’s wife is seen blessing Varun and smilingly praising him in the pre-release program of the film.
In the video, Colonel Hoshiar Singh Dahiya’s wife was seen touching Varun’s head and blessing him with a smile. He said, “You have done very well. Very good, well done! The film will do very well.” Varun bowed and said thanks. In this 22-second video, Varun Dhawan was seen standing with folded hands in front of Colonel Hoshiar Singh’s wife. Border 2 will be released worldwide on January 23, just before the Republic Day weekend.

- Born in Sisana, Sonipat: Hoshiar Sink Diya was born to Chaudhary Hira Singh in village Sisana in Sonipat district of Haryana. After studying for one year in Rohtak Jat College, he joined the army. He was married to Dhanno Devi. Got commission in the Grenadiers Regiment in the Indian Army on 30 June 1963. On 30 June 1965, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.
- Skills shown in the war of 1965-71: On 17 December 1971 the enemy attacked with a battalion with the help of heavy artillery. Major Hoshiar Singh, despite being seriously wounded himself, manned the gun and inflicted heavy losses on the enemy. The enemy fled leaving behind 85 soldiers including their commanding officer and three other officers. Despite being seriously injured, Major Hoshiar Singh refused to leave until the ceasefire.

- Has received Paramvir Chakra: Colonel Hoshiar Singh had received the title of Paramvir Chakra. Promoted to the rank of Permanent Major on 30 June 1976. After which he served as an instructor at the Officers Training School, Madras (now Chennai) for two years. In 1981, he was posted as an instructor at the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, and on 8 April 1983, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. He became the commander of his battalion.
- Retired in 1988, died in 1998: Retired from the Army on 31 May 1988 with the honorary rank of Colonel. He died on 6 December 1998 at the age of 61. He survived three sons, two of whom, like their father, entered the army as commissioned officers in the Grenadiers, and one joined the Third Grenadiers.
