The banned insurgent group United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) claimed on Thursday that they have placed 19 bombs across Assam to oppose the Independence Day celebrations.
In a press release, the outfit stated that bombs have been planted in areas including Upper Assam, such as Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, and Guwahati, as well as Lower Assam.
Meanwhile, police said they have detected “suspicious items” in Sivasagar and Nagaon.
