A major explosives racket was unearthed in Rajasthan’s Tonk district following a targeted operation by the District Special Task Force (DST), leading to the seizure of a substantial quantity of explosive materials and the arrest of two accused.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the DST team intercepted a vehicle in the Baroni police station area and recovered 150 kilograms of ammonium nitrate that was being illegally transported.
According to the details, the explosive substance had been concealed inside sacks of urea fertiliser, allegedly to evade detection during transit.
During the operation, police also recovered 200 dangerous explosive cartridges and 1,100 safety fuse wires, indicating the scale and seriousness of the illegal activity.
The explosives were being transported in a car, which has since been seized by the police.

The two accused arrested in connection with the case were identified as Surendra Patwa and Surendra Mochi, both residents of Bundi district in Rajasthan.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the accused were supplying explosives from Bundi to Tonk.
However, officials said further investigation is underway to determine the exact source of the explosives, the network involved in their procurement, and the intended use of the seized material.
Confirming the recovery and arrests, DSP Mrityunjay Mishra told news agency ANI, “Explosives were seized from a Maruti Ciaz car. One hundred and fifty kg of ammonium nitrate hidden in sacks of urea was seized.”
“In addition, police recovered 200 explosive batteries and 1100 meters of wire. Two accused have been arrested. One is Surendra and the other is Surendra Moch,” he said.
“An investigation is underway,” he added.
The police officer added that the operation was carried out based on precise inputs and that all angles are being examined as part of the probe.
Ammonium nitrate is a highly sensitive chemical that can be misused for making powerful explosives if it falls into the wrong hands.
