Khaleda Zia’s Funeral Live Updates: Jaishankar Lands In Dhaka; Ex-PM’s Mortal Remains Reach Gulshan Residence

Khaleda Zia Funeral News Live: The Muhammad Yunus-led interim government has made extensive arrangements for the funeral, with authorities expecting large crowds to gather in Dhaka to pay their last respects to one of the country’s most prominent political figures.

According to the schedule announced by officials, Khaleda Zia’s funeral prayers will be held on Wednesday at 2 pm local time, following Zohr prayers, at the South Plaza of the National Parliament House and the adjoining Manik Mia Avenue. She will later be laid to rest at Zia Udyan in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, beside the grave of her husband, former president Ziaur Rahman, who was assassinated in 1981.

Khaleda Zia was a central figure in Bangladesh politics for more than four decades. Widow of President Ziaur Rahman, she led the BNP and served as prime minister in 1991–96, 1996 and 2001–06. Her long and bitter political rivalry with Awami League leader Sheikh Hasina came to define Bangladesh’s modern political era.

She died after prolonged illness, following years of health complications that had kept her largely out of active politics in recent times.
