In a shocking case of brutality, four 17-year-old students attacked a North Indian youth with a machete on a passenger train. As per the police, the youths were under the influence of ganja and were obsessed with social media “reels.” Tamil Nadu’s Tiruttani police arrested all four accused on Saturday.

Acting on information from the public, Tiruttani police rushed to the railway quarters area near the Tiruttani railway station yesterday evening. They found a North Indian youth in critical condition, suffering from nearly 20 stab wounds across his body. The victim was rushed to the Tiruttani Government Hospital via ambulance.

The police registered a case and launched an investigation to identify the attackers. During the investigation, local residents alleged that the Arakkonam Railway Police fail to effectively monitor the station and surrounding areas, leading to frequent criminal incidents.

The victim has been identified as Suraj (34), a native of Nagpur, Maharashtra. The investigation revealed that the attack was carried out by four 17-year-old students: Nandagopal, Vignesh alias Vicky, Santhosh alias Kullu and Santhosh.

The students, under the influence of ganja, reportedly met the victim on the train and driven by a desire to go viral on social media, filmed videos of themselves threatening to cut the youth with a machete for Instagram Reels.

They later brought him to the railway quarters area near Tiruttani station, where they brutally attacked him before fleeing the scene. The students even uploaded the video of the assault to social media. Following the viral footage and investigation, Tiruttani police successfully tracked down and arrested all four minors.

The incident has caused a major stir in the region. Railway passengers have raised serious concerns about the Railway Police, stating that the lack of regular patrolling between Chennai and Tiruttani allowed the students to travel openly with a machete.
