The suspects entered India through Haluaghat border located on the India-Bangladesh border. After crossing the border, he was first received by a man named Purti. Later, a taxi driver named Sami took them to Tura town in Meghalaya.”

The officer further said that these two persons, who had helped the absconding accused, have been taken into custody by the Indian authorities. Bangladesh government is trying its best to bring back these suspects. However, the Indian government has not yet officially confirmed it.

The police officer said that we are maintaining contact with the Indian authorities through both formal and informal channels. We are trying to arrest them as soon as possible. The police are deeply investigating all aspects in this case.

Protests are taking place against Hadi’s murder

Protests have been taking place in Bangladesh since December 18 against Hadi’s assassination. Supporters of Osman Hadi and leaders and activists of student organizations took to the streets in several districts inside and outside Dhaka.

The protesters vandalized and set fire to the offices of the country’s largest newspapers, the Daily Star and Prothom Alo. Additionally, the house of Mohibul Hasan Choudhary, a former education minister in Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League government, was vandalized and set on fire.

30 days timeline to Yunus government

Abdullah Al Jaber, Secretary of Inquilab Manch of Bangladesh, has given a timeline of 30 days to the Yunus government to catch Hadi’s killers.

The government has been demanded to identify and arrest the killers within the timeline. Jaber alleged that a deep conspiracy was going on to destroy the sovereignty of Bangladesh.

Jaber has put forward two main demands before the government, first, the arrest of all those involved in Hadi’s murder and second, the arrest of civil-military intelligence agents associated with the Awami League.

December 12- Hadi was shot by bike-riding attackers.

Usman Hadi was shot in the capital Dhaka on December 12, in which he was seriously injured. He was going on a rickshaw when a bike-riding attacker shot him.

Hadi was immediately taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and was later referred to Singapore for treatment. Where he died on 18 December.

According to media reports, a few hours before the attack, Usman Hadi had shared a map of Greater Bangladesh, which included Indian areas (7 Sisters).

Hadi was going to contest independent elections from Dhaka

Hadi was the spokesperson of the Islamic organization ‘Inquilab Manch’ and was an independent candidate from Dhaka in the elections. Inquilab Manch emerged as an organization after the student movement of August 2024. It toppled the Awami League government of then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

This organization remained active in declaring Awami League a terrorist and demanding its complete destruction and safety of the youth. This organization emphasizes on protecting national independence and sovereignty. This organization played an important role in dissolving the Awami League in May 2025 and disqualifying it from the elections.
