14 year old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been made the captain of the Indian Under-19 team. He will captain the team on the South Africa tour. However, Ayush Mhatre will be the captain in the World Cup. He is out of South Africa tour due to injury.

BCCI on Saturday announced the team for South Africa tour and Under-19 World Cup. The board has made Vihaan Malhotra the vice-captain for the World Cup. Vihaan is also not going to South Africa due to injury.

The South Africa tour of India’s youth team will start from January 3. 3 ODIs will be played in this. After this, Team India will participate in the World Cup to be held in Zimbabwe and Namibia from January 15.

India will start its World Cup campaign against USA on January 15. The second match will be played against Bangladesh on 17 January and the third match will be played against New Zealand on 24 January.

Why made two captains before the World Cup? BCCI said in the press release that the regular captains of the youth team, Ayush Mhatre and Vihaan Malhotra have injured their wrists. Both will remain out of South Africa tour. Both of them will report to BCCI’s Center of Excellence for treatment of the injury. Then he will join the team for the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup.

16 teams will play in the World Cup, India has been placed in Group B. 16 teams will participate in the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup. Which are divided into four groups. After this, Super Six stage, semi-finals and finals will be played. The final match will be held in Harare. Five-time champion India (2000, 2008, 2012, 2018 and 2022) has been placed in Group B, where it will face New Zealand, USA and Bangladesh.
