The Bombay High Court on Friday termed the AI-generated and morphed pictures of actress Shilpa Shetty as extremely disturbing and shocking. The court ordered several social media platforms to immediately remove all such links and websites.

Actually, Shilpa Shetty had filed a petition in the High Court to protect the rights related to her personality. He had demanded action against those websites and AI generated content which showed his morphed photos and videos.

While hearing the case, the vacation bench of Justice Advait Sethna said that the content posted on the websites is extremely disturbing at first glance. The court said that no person, especially a woman, can be presented in this manner without her knowledge or permission, because it affects her privacy.

Shilpa Shetty’s last theatrical release was Sukhi, which hit the theaters on September 22, 2023.

Voices and expressions were copied from AI

In the petition, Shilpa had alleged that her voice and expressions were copied using AI tools. Due to this, his morphed photos, books and other products were made without permission.

Shilpa demanded the court to remove this content and stop all websites from using her name, voice or picture without permission.

The High Court said that the pictures available on social media show them in a wrong and objectionable manner. According to the court, such pictures can harm his image and reputation. Therefore, the court ordered all platforms to immediately remove all such URLs.
