Imran Khan is currently lodged in Adiala jail.
Former Prime Minister of Pakistan and PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi have been sentenced to 17 years in jail each in the Toshakhana Case-2 case.
This decision was given by the special court of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Saturday.
A fine of Rs 16.4 crore has also been imposed on both of them. This case involved purchasing an expensive Bulgari watch set at a very low price.
Special Judge Shahrukh Arjumand pronounced the verdict during the hearing held in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail. Imran is lodged in Adiala jail since August 2023 in a corruption case.
More than 100 cases are pending against Imran Khan. The local court of Islamabad had convicted him in the Toshakhana case on August 5, 2023.
Imran got less punishment because he was older and Bushra was a woman.
Imran was sentenced to a total of 17 years in prison. He was sentenced to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment under Section 409 (criminal breach of trust) and seven years’ imprisonment under Section 5(2)47 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
According to Dawn newspaper, while sentencing, the court has considered Imran’s old age (73 years) and Bushra being a woman. There has been leniency in giving punishment. Following the verdict, Imran and Bushra’s legal teams announced their intention to challenge the verdict in the High Court.

Imran Khan trapped in Toshakhan case due to wife Bushra’s mistake
It is the year 2018. After becoming Prime Minister, Imran Khan went on a tour of Saudi Arabia. At the same time, Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman gifted a watch made of gold and diamonds to Imran. After returning from Saudi, Imran Khan gave this watch to his wife Bushra to keep.
After a few days, Bushra gave this watch to Zulfi Bukhari, a minister at that time, and asked him to know its price. When the minister inquired, he found out that the watch was very expensive. Bushra asked the minister to sell the watch.
Bushra’s friend Farah Khan and Minister Zulfi Bukhari reached a showroom of expensive watches to sell this branded watch. The owner of this showroom called its manufacturing company.

As soon as the company making this watch came to know about it, it directly contacted the Saudi Prince’s office and asked that out of the two watches you had made, one had come for sale. Did you send this or was it stolen?
The Saudi Prince’s office contacted the Pakistan government and wanted to know about it. This brought the whole matter to light. After some time, the audio of Imran’s wife Bushra and friend Zulfi Bukhari was leaked.
It became clear that it was on the instructions of Imran that Bushra had contacted Zulfi Bukhari and asked him to sell the watch. The court has found Imran Khan guilty saying that there was strong evidence in this case.

Imran had declared a watch worth Rs 2 crore as worth Rs 5 lakh.
In Pakistan, information about gifts received by the Prime Minister, President or people holding other positions has to be given to the National Archives. These have to be deposited in the Toshakhana.
If the gift is worth 10 thousand Pakistani rupees, then the person concerned can keep it without paying any money.
If the estimated value of the gift is more than Rs 10 thousand then the gift can be kept with you by paying 20% of the value. If the gift is worth more than Rs 4 lakh then only Wazir-e-Azam i.e. Prime Minister or Sadar-e-Riyasat i.e. President can buy it. If no one buys then an auction takes place.
Imran said that the gifts worth Rs 2 crore were at some places 5 lakhs and at some places 7 lakhs. He purchased them at this price and then sold them at many times more than the original price.

Imran Khan received a total of 108 gifts during his tenure as Prime Minister (2018-2022), many of which were expensive. These mainly include luxury items received from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and other foreign leaders.

Imran Khan has been in jail for more than 2 years
More than 100 cases are pending against Imran Khan and he is in jail since August 2023. He has been sentenced to 14 years in prison in a corruption case, which includes charges like selling government gifts (Toshakhana case) and leaking government secrets.
Imran is accused of selling land worth billions of rupees to Al-Qadir Trust cheaply. Imran was arrested in this case on 9 May 2023. After this, many important army bases were attacked across the country.
Pakistan’s National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had booked Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi and 6 other persons in December 2023 in the Al-Qadir Trust case. However, before this case was registered against Imran, he was already lodged in Adiala jail in the Toshakhana case.
