The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur began its 2025–26 campus placement season on December 1. According to an official press release, IIT Kanpur students received 672 job offers on Day 1, the highest Day 1 tally to date.

This signifies a remarkable 16% increase over last year’s Day-1 placements, underscoring IIT Kanpur’s growing industry appeal and the strong demand for its graduates. With some results still pending, the count is expected to rise further, the institute stated.

By the end of Day 1, 627 students had secured job offers, including Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs), indicating a substantial 20% increase in placements compared to the previous season. PPOs were instrumental in this success, with 253 offers recorded, representing a strong 27% rise from last year. On the international front, nine students received overseas offers, showcasing IIT Kanpur’s global relevance.

Over 250 companies have shown interest in hiring IITK students this year. Leading recruiters include Accenture, BlackRock, HSBC, SAP, Airbus, PwC, Navi, Qualcomm, Deutsche Bank, and many more.

Placement season began at the IITs on December 1, 2025. However, over 20 companies have been prohibited from participating this year. These companies had rescinded confirmed job offers made to students in the previous academic year, sometimes just days before their scheduled joining dates in June and July. The IITs collectively reviewed these cases and decided to exclude the companies from this year’s placement process. Officials mentioned that IITs made efforts to assist the affected students wherever possible, despite the considerable time gap following the cancellations.

An official involved in the placement process told News18 that the decision to blacklist the firms was finalised during a recent meeting of the Council of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Many of the companies had either revoked offers or reduced salary packages that had already been committed to students. “We identified these companies and removed them from the placement process,” the official said.
