A shooting took place at a banquet hall in Stockton, California.
There was a sudden firing in a banquet hall on Saturday night in Lucile Avenue area of Stockton city of California. A child’s birthday party was going on in this hall. 4 people died while 10 were seriously injured in the incident.
According to officials, a total of 14 people were shot, of whom 4 died in hospital. The injured were immediately admitted to the nearest hospital. People present at the spot said, ‘At first we thought that firecrackers were being burst at a birthday party. Then it became known that bullets were being fired.
The city’s vice-mayor Jason Lee wrote on Facebook, ‘My heart is very heavy today. I am saddened and angry at this mass shooting at a child’s birthday party. Our community has the right to know the truth and the victims’ families should get justice and all possible help.

Vice Mayor Jason Lee said: ‘A birthday party should never be a place where families fear for their lives. It’s scary. As a leader, seeing my people go through this shakes me to my core.
He further said, ‘I have been in contact with staff and officials to understand what happened, and I will try to get answers. Tonight, I express my condolences, prayers and love to the families who are going through this pain.
The victims included both children and adults
The incident took place in a banquet hall where people were celebrating. During the celebrations, firing began. According to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office (SJCSO), the victims include both children and adults.
Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Heather Brent said at a press conference that initial indications appear to be a deliberate plot. Brent said, ‘Our first priority at this time is to identify the attacker.’
Till now no information has been received about the attacker.
Police officials have not yet given any information about the age of the victims or the attacker. Police have cordoned off the entire area and are investigating and have appealed to people not to go to that area.
Local people said that the firing was so intense that they felt as if firecrackers were bursting. One witness said, “We were celebrating a child’s birthday party nearby, and we thought there were fireworks going off in celebration.”
