Underscoring that Hindu society was central to sustaining the world, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat emphasised that “without Hindus, the world will cease to exist”.
Addressing a gathering during his visit to Manipur, Bhagwat said that Hindu society was immortal, pointing out that India had outlasted empires like those of Yunaan (Greece), Misr (Egypt), and Rome.
“Every nation of the world has seen all kinds of situations. Yunaan (Greece), Misr (Egypt) and Roma, all civilisations perished from the face of the earth. There is something in our civilisation that we are still here,” the RSS chief said.
The RSS chief, on his first visit to Manipur since the ethnic clashes devastated the state, described Hindu society as the global custodian of dharma.

“Bharat is the name of an immortal civilisation… We have created a network in our society because of which the Hindu community will always be there. If Hindu Dharma perishes, so will world’s civilizations. The world will cease to exist if Hindus cease to exist,” he said.
Earlier, Bhagwat has underlined that no one was a non-Hindu in India, as Muslims and Christians were descendants of the same ancestors.
The RSS chief, the ideological parent of the BJP, also emphasised that for the country to become stronger, its economy must be fully self-reliant. At the same time, Bhagwat said that military capability and knowledge capacity were equally crucial to nation-building.
“While building the nation, the first requirement is strength. Strength means economic ability. The word ‘superiority’ sometimes carries the wrong meaning. But our economy must be completely self-reliant. We should not be dependent on anyone,” the RSS chief said.
The remark comes at a time when the government has intensified its ‘swadeshi’ push after the US, under Donald Trump, imposed steep 50% tariffs on Indian imports. Bhagwat, however, said the path ahead was not too difficult and pointed to examples where collective societal resolve had helped overcome deep-rooted challenges.
