Russia is ready to supply Su-57 stealth fighter jets to India. At the Dubai Air Show, Sergei Kemezov, CEO of Russian company Rostec, said that they will also transfer the technology of these fighter jets unconditionally.

Russian Su-57 jets are considered a successor to America’s F-35. Like Su-57, F-35 is also a 5th generation fighter aircraft. America has been wanting to sell F-35 to India for a long time.

This assurance from Russia has come at a time when Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar recently met President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Putin is going to visit India next month.

Russia ready to produce Su-57 in India

CEO Sergey Chemezov said that India and Russia have been trusted defense partners for many decades. Even when there were international sanctions on India, Russia continued to supply arms for India’s security.

He said- Even today we are adopting the same policy. We are supplying all types of military equipment to India as per its needs and further strengthening future cooperation.

Russia says that there will be no restriction on the technology of Su-57. Information about engines, radar, stealth technology and modern weapons can also be given in it. Russia also said that if India wants, Su-57 can be made in India only.

Russia has also proposed joint planning to India to make two-seater Su-57. He says that all this can be done in India without worrying about any foreign restrictions.

Russia has been India’s major military supplier for many decades. Russia has been providing India with everything from fighter jets and submarines to missile systems and helicopters.

India is building its own fifth generation fighter jet

India is working on its own 5th generation fighter aircraft, which will be completed in 2-3 years. In April 2024, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) had approved a project worth Rs 15 thousand crore for the design and development of the fifth generation indigenous fighter jet.

According to the Cabinet Committee, the AMCA aircraft will be larger than other fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force. It will have advanced stealth technology to avoid enemy radar. It will be similar or even better than the fifth generation stealth fighter aircraft present in the world.

Preparation to buy missiles worth ₹ 10 thousand crores from Russia

India is also preparing to buy missiles worth Rs 10,000 crore from Russia for its existing S-400 air defense system. For this, talks are going on with Russian officials.

The S-400 system of the Indian Air Force played an important role during Operation Sindoor. It was told that it shot down 5-6 Pakistani fighter planes and one spy plane at a distance of more than 300 kilometers. The Air Force has described the S-400 as a game changer in India’s air defense strategy.

India is the largest arms buyer in the world after Ukraine. However, in the last few years, the government has also been emphasizing on the export of arms. For this, India is providing loans to purchase arms through Export-Import Bank (EXIM Bank).
