As the investigations continue in the November 10 car explosion near the Red Fort, sources informed that Dr Umar Nabi, the suicide bomber, was spotted near a mosque in the capital hours before he carried out the deadly blast.
The Fidayeen bomber of the Red Fort blast was caught on CCTV stepping out of the Hyundai i20 car and visiting a mosque. Meanwhile, the agencies probing the terror attack are also investigating if he made contact with anyone else before the explosion.
The doctor, hailing from Pulwama in south Kashmir, was working at Al Falah University in Faridabad, Haryana.
DNA Test Confirms Dr Umar Nabi As Delhi Red Fort Car Bomber
Meanwhile, DNA tests have confirmed that the prime suspect, Dr. Umar Nabiwas present inside the car at the time of the explosion, agency sources told CNN-News18.
The test results confirm that Umar carried out the suicide blast, killing 12 people on Monday evening near Metro Gate No. 1 at Chandni Chowk, they said, establishing a direct link between Haryana’s Al-Falah University and the blast near the Red Fort.
Umar’s DNA matched the samples collected from his mother. The match was established after forensic teams compared bones and teeth recovered from the vehicle with samples taken from Umar’s family.
Quoting the Delhi Police, news agency ANI reported that after the blast, Umar Nabi’s leg was stuck between the steering wheel and accelerator.
