UPSC Success Story: The UPSC has released its final results for 2025. In this result, Saumya Mishra, an SDM posted in Madihan tehsil, secured the 18th rank. Mishra had previously placed second in the PCS 2021 exam. While working as an SDM in Madihan tehsil, her results were announced, making her an IAS officer. This was her fourth attempt at the UPSC exam, after failing the previous three times.

A resident of Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, she studied in Delhi. Her father, Raghavendra Mishra, is a Hindi professor with the Delhi government, and her mother, Renu Mishra, is a housewife.

Saumya Mishra became a PCS officer on her second attempt and secured the 18th rank in the UPSC examination on her fourth. After becoming an IAS officer, she credited her success to her family, teachers, and professors, saying, “This was my fourth attempt, and I succeeded.”

Despite failing three times, Mishra did not give up. She explained that she failed the interview in her second attempt and the prelims in her third, but succeeded on her fourth try. As SDM Judicial, she managed to find time for her studies while working, with the support of District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan, who acted as a guardian and allowed her sufficient study time.

Saumya Mishra advised against being discouraged by failure. If you fail once or twice, don’t get depressed. Instead, work on your mistakes and study with focus, she said. You will definitely succeed, she added. She started preparing to become an IAS officer and applied for PCS along with IAS. She was selected for PCS but continued her studies even after that.

Meanwhile, the UPSC Civil Services Mains Result 2025 has been announced on November 11. Candidates who appeared for the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2025 can check their results on the official website of the Commission at upsc.gov.in. Candidates who have qualified in the Mains exam will now be called for the next stage — the Personality Test (Interview).
