US President Donald Trump has taken a U-turn in his stance regarding foreign students. Trump has said that foreign students should continue to be allowed to study in America, because they not only strengthen the country’s education system but also manage the financial condition of the universities.
In an interview given to Fox News, he said that if the number of foreign students coming from China and other countries is reduced, then about half of America’s colleges will be closed.
Trump said that we cannot stop half the students coming from all over the world, if we do so then our college-university system will suffer huge losses. I don’t want that. I believe that it is good for students to come from outside countries, I want to maintain better relations with the world.

Interviews of foreign students were banned 6 months ago
America had earlier banned new visa interviews for foreign students in May this year. Its purpose was to stop anti-Semitism and leftist ideas in the country’s universities.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had issued orders to US embassies around the world asking them not to schedule new interviews for student visas, because the Trump government is going to make the scrutiny of social media profiles of students coming to America more strict.
He had further said – With immediate effect, the Consular Section will not allow new appointments for student or exchange visitor (F, M and J) visas until further guidelines are issued.
The ban applies to the F, M and J visa categories, which cover most international students and exchange visitors. Interviews later resumed, but social media checks and security rules have been tightened.

The number of Indian students going to America fell by 70%
The number of Indian students going to America to study has declined by 70%. This situation has arisen due to blockage of visa slots and sudden increase in visa rejections due to the Trump administration’s policies related to international students.
Due to problems, many students are now looking for options to study in other countries.
