The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026 schedule. The examination will be conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode across two sessions – January and April. The application portal will be activated by October 2025, however, the exact date of the same is yet to be announced.
For Session 1 (January 2026), the NTA has announced that online applications will open in October 2025, and the exams will take place from January 21 to 30, 2026. For Session 2 (April 2026), applications can be submitted starting from the last week of January 2026, with exams scheduled between April 1 and 10, 2026.
“The National Testing Agency will be conducting the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) – 2026 in CBT Mode in two sessions (January 2026 and April 2026). The online application form for Session-I will be made live on the website (https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/) in October 2025,” states the official notice.
Students who will be appearing for the exam can check the schedule on the official website at jeemain.nta.nic.in.

To encourage active participation from a large number of candidates in JEE (Main) 2026, the NTA stated it is working to increase the number of cities, making it easier for engineering aspirants. Special attention is being given to the requirements of PwD/PwBD candidates taking the examination, it added in its official notice.
During the application process, NTA will obtain candidates’ Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Photograph, and Address from UIDAI through Aadhaar Authentication. Since Father/Mother/Guardian’s name is not recorded in Aadhaar, candidates must fill these details separately in the online application form. If there is a name mismatch between the Aadhaar Card and 10th Educational Certificate/Marksheet, an option will be provided to resolve this issue during the online application stage, the agency stated.
