IMD said that it has been raining in Kerala and Lakshadweep since Sunday. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Coastal Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal in the next seven days. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Bengaluru from October 22 to October 25. For this the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert.

Orange alert has been issued in Kerala due to heavy rain in Idukki, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts on Monday. One person died in floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains in Idukki district on Sunday.

Several roads and 50 houses were submerged in water in Vazhikkadavu in Malappuram. Traffic on Gudalur-Kozhikode road was also affected. The water level in Karakodam, Kalakkad and Atithod rivers of the district has increased rapidly.

IMD said that it has been raining heavily in Lakshadweep since Sunday. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Coastal Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal in the next seven days.

In the weather report of October 19, IMD had issued a rain alert for the next seven days in Kerala, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh and South Karnataka. Andaman-Nicobar Islands, Coastal Karnataka, Rayalaseema, South Interior Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Telangana may also receive rain with storm.

The weather department has warned 64 people in Erode, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Dindigul, Theni, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Ramanathapuram, Sivagangai, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Karaikal, Mayiladuthurai, Villupuram, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Cuddalore and Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu. There is a possibility of rain up to 111 mm.

IMD has warned that wind speed of 35 to 45 kilometers per hour can reach 55 kilometers per hour along the coasts of Kerala and Karnataka. The waves in the sea may be high, so fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.
