On the first trading day of the week, i.e. today, July 8, the stock market is witnessing a decline. The Sensex is trading at the level of 79,800 with a decline of more than 100 points. At the same time, there is a decline of about 20 points in the Nifty. It is trading at the level of 24,300.
During the initial trade, out of the 30 Sensex stocks, 18 are seeing a decline and 12 are seeing a rise. Today, banking and metal stocks have seen a big decline. On the other hand, auto and power stocks are seeing a rise.
Mixed business for Asian markets
- Mixed trading is being seen in Asian markets. Japan’s Nikkei is up 0.21%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading down 1.23%. Shanghai Composite is seeing a decline of 0.54%.
- ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Titan Infosys, Axis Bank and Asian Paints are pulling the market down. Whereas Tata Motors, ITC, Hindustan Unilever, M&M, Airtel, HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra and Sun Pharma are pulling the market up.
- The US market rose on Friday. The Dow Jones closed at 39,375, up 67.87 (0.17%) points. The NASDAQ rose 164.46 (0.90%) points to 18,352 and the S&P 500 index closed at 5,567, up 30.17 (0.54%) points.
The market remained flat on Friday
On the last trading day of last week, i.e. July 5, the stock market witnessed flat trading. The Sensex closed at 79,996 with a fall of 53 points. At the same time, Nifty rose by 21 points and closed at 24,323. Out of the 30 Sensex stocks, 17 rose and 13 fell.
