US President Donald Trump on Wednesday signed an executive order, stating that the US will protect it if there is any kind of attack on Qatar. The order states that the attack on Qatar would be considered a threat to the peace and security of America.
It has also been added that in the event of an attack, America will be ready to take all kinds of measures, whether it is diplomatic, economic or whether military action has to be taken if needed.
Israel attacked Hamas terrorists in Doha on 9 September, killing 6 people. After this, the pressure of Qatar’s security on Trump increased.
After this, Trump also called for an apology from the Israeli PM Netanyahu from the Israeli PM Netanyahu to the PM Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. Netanyahu then reached the White House to meet Trump. A day later, the White House also released photos related to it.

Qatar praised Trump’s decision
Following Trump’s decision to sign the executive order, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry described it as a step to strengthen the defense relations between the two countries. Qatar’s famous channel Al-Jazeera called it an American guarantee of security after the Israeli attack.
Earlier on Wednesday, Trump also interacted with Qatar ruler Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Although the White House did not share the details of the conversation, Qatar said that the two leaders discussed the efforts of ceasefire in the Gaza war.
Parliament approval required for safety guarantee
According to the news agency Associated Press, questions are being raised about Trump’s importance of giving security guarantee to Qatar. The approval of Parliament is generally necessary to legally recognize any defense treaty in the US.
However, many times the President himself makes such compromises, such as Barack Obama signed a nuclear agreement with Iran in 2015. But in the end, or not to take military action is completely in the hands of the President. This is the reason why there is doubt about this order of Trump, because earlier in his tenure, the credibility of old agreements like NATO has been questioned.
Trump’s decision was also criticized in the US. Trump’s close and disputed right -wing activist Laura Lumor wrote on social media that ‘I don’t want to die for Qatar, do you want?’ Wall Street Journal’s editorial board also described it as a sudden decision taken without public debate.
Qatar is important for 4 reasons for President Trump …
- Financial deal- Trump made a deal of $ 243.5 billion (about Rs 20 lakh crore) from Qatar during the Doha visit in May 2025. Under this, 160 aircraft will be purchased from Qatar Airways, Boeing.
- Military base- Qatar has Al Udid Air Base, the largest military base in the middle of the middle East. America’s Central Command works from here.
- Role in peace talks- Qatar Gaza has a mediator in peace talks between Israel and Hamas, which is necessary for Trump’s peace plan.
- Gift of Trump- Qatar has gifted Trump a Boeing 747-8 aircraft worth $ 400 million (about Rs 3400 crore).
America and Qatar relationships have been stronger than before. In 2022, the President Joe Biden gave Qatar the status of ‘major non-Nato aide’.
