Navratri and Dussehra have brought a new beauty to the consumer market. People are enthusiastic due to the decrease in GST on many products. Different companies have shared sales figures between the beginning of Navratri i.e. 22 September and 28 September. Meanwhile, the sales of cars have increased by 133%. Daily use (FMCG) like soap, paste, biscuits (FMCG) are also sold up to 20%.
In the last one week, sales of cars, motorcycles, TV, beauty products and premium watches have doubled. This year, more enthusiasm is being seen in rural areas. Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata Motors say their sales in Navratri have increased by 100-133% so far.

Maruti’s booking increased 100% According to Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer (Sales-Marketing) of Maruti Suzuki, the company’s booking in the top-100 cities has increased by about 100%. Hyundai Motor India Director and COO Tarun Garg says that between 22-25 September, 133% more bookings were made in rural markets.
Sale of smartphones with more than 20,000 price
- Fashion: Van Huceons, Unicl and H&M have reduced the prices of products below Rs 2,500. They have also decided not to put the increased tax burden on customers on clothing more than this.
- Electronics: TV and mobile sales in Vijay Sales have increased by 50%. TV sales on online platforms doubled. QLED TV sold 23% more.
- mall: Pushpa Bacter of DLF Retail said, “GST deduction and income tax exemption has increased shopping in the mall.” Sale of smartphones worth more than Rs 20,000 has increased more than 50 percent.
FMCG and jewelery shopping increased According to Parle products of FMCG sector, its distributors and stockists bought 15-20% more goods. Parle’s Vice President Mayank Shah said that these days we are shopping more than our expectations.
Sunil D’Souza, MD of Tata Consumer Products, said that more money is being saved in people’s pockets due to decrease in GST and increasing government expenditure. Its effect is visible on shopping. Jewelery retailer Tanishq is expected to sell vigorously during weddings and festival season. Arun Narayan, Senior Vice President of Tanishq, said that GST deduction has increased the desire to shop among the people.
Saving up to 15% directly on trains
- From September 22, GST declined from 29-31% to 18% on small cars. This led to the benefit of 8.5–9.9% to buyers. With this, prices with festive offers of companies and dealers were reduced by 12-15 percent.
- DLF Retail Senior ED Pushpa Bacter said that GST deduction and income tax exemption played a big role in increasing shopping in the mall. In October, salary class will also get bonuses. Therefore, there is not much worry about expenditure.
- On the one hand people are saving tax on income and most of the goods on the other side have also become cheap. This has increased enthusiasm.
