Rinku Hooda stole the spotlight from world record holder compatriot Sundar Singh Gurjar as India celebrated a dominant 1-2 finish in the men’s javelin throw F46 event on the third day of the World Para Athletics Championships on Monday.

Hooda claimed his maiden World Championships gold with a powerful throw of 66.37m, while Gurjar followed with 64.76m to secure silver. Cuban athlete Guillermo Varona Gonzalez took the bronze with 63.34m, and fellow Indian Ajeet Singh narrowly missed the podium in fourth with 61.77m.

The F46 classification is for athletes with arm deficiency, impaired muscle power, or limited passive range of motion in the arms, with competitors performing from a standing position.

This result adds to India’s growing medal haul at the Championships, bringing the tally to a total of five medals so far: two golds, two silvers, and one bronze.
