Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) has completed 10 years. According to the rules, it is necessary to update KYC (No Your Customer) 10 years after opening a bank account. In such a situation, the government has asked to get the re-KYC of the account opened under the Jan Dhan Yojana till 30 September.

If you also have public money account, then get re-KYC done by September 30. That is, you now have only 3 days left. If this is not done, the bank can close the account you.

Here we are telling you about the re-KYC and Jan Dhan account in question and question …

Question 1: What is re-KYC and why is it necessary? answer: Re-KYC is an easy process in which you update your old information like names, address and photo in the bank. It also helps in preventing fraud and continuing banking service properly.

Question 2: Who has to do re-KYC? answer: Holders of accounts that were opened in 2014-2015 will have to re-KYC, as the KYC validity of these accounts is 10 years. This process is necessary to keep the account active.

Question 3: What are the banks doing for this facility? answer: Government banks are organizing camps at the gram panchayat level across the country from July 1 to September 30, 2025. These camps are doing re-KYC by going to the house of account holders. So far, camps have been set up in about 1 lakh gram panchayats, and millions of people have updated.

Question 4: What will happen if not re-KYC? answer: The account can be inactive, which will stop the transactions and can also have trouble getting government subsidies.

  • 2 lakh accident insurance: The account holder gets an accident insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh with the RuPay card issued.
  • overdraft facility: You can take overdraft (borrowing) of up to Rs 10,000 on this account.
  • Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT): Government subsidies, such as gas subsidy or other schemes, come directly to your account.
  • Interest facility: Interest is also available on savings, as usually available in bank accounts.

Question 7: How to open this account?

answer: Opening an account is very easy. Just need these things:

  • Aadhar card: This is most important. If there is no Aadhaar, the voter ID, driving license, passport or any other government ID will run.
  • Evidence of address and identity: If you know in Aadhaar, it is enough. Otherwise you can give electricity bill, ration card or something else.
