World Boxing Championships 2025: Minakshi, Jaismine And Nupur Enter Finals

Minakshi Hooda (women’s 48kg), Jaismine Lamboria (women’s 57kg), and Nupur Sheoran (women’s 80kg) displayed their dominance in their respective semi-finals, raising hopes for multiple gold medals for India at the World Boxing Championships 2025 in Liverpool.

Minakshi triumphed over Altantsetseg Lutsaikhan of Mongolia with a 5:0 score, Jaismine overwhelmed Omailyn Carolina Alcala Cegovia of Venezuela 5:0, and Nupur was too strong for Turkey’s Seyma Duztas.

India has entered a 20-member team in the inaugural World Championships, organized by the newly established World Boxing, an international governing body for boxing, and is aiming for a strong performance in both men’s and women’s events.

Pooja Rani (women’s 80kg) is the fourth Indian boxer to reach the semi-finals and will compete against Emily Asquith of England later in the day.

In the women’s 48kg semi-finals, Minakshi didn’t allow two-time Asian bronze medallist Lutsaikhan to find her rhythm in any of the three rounds, thoroughly dominating the bout to secure a unanimous decision.

A similar story unfolded in the other two semi-finals, as both Jaismine and Nupur rarely seemed under pressure throughout their matches.

In the finals on Saturday night, Jaismine will face Paris Olympic silver medallist Julia Szeremeta of Poland, while Nupur will compete against another Polish boxer, Agata Kaczmarska, a multiple-time European championships medallist.
