The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced the Counseling Hub and Spoke School Model for the 2025-26 session, aimed at improving the mental health and well-being of students. This initiative seeks to enhance access to counselling services by creating a collaborative network among schools and providing timely psychosocial support to students.
According to the official notice, “The Central Board of Secondary Education has conceptualized the CBSE Counseling Hub & Spoke School Model to strengthen psychosocial support systems in schools by fostering a collaborative network of Hub Schools and Spoke Schools.”
The board has also shared the list of selected hub and spoke schools for this session, notifying several institutions and departments, including Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Eklavya Model Residential Schools, Sainik Schools, Odisha Adarsh Vidyalaya Sangathan, State Director of Education, AWES, and Central Tibetan School Administration.

In this model, the school head or principal will play a crucial role, overseeing the entire process and providing necessary guidelines. Under their guidance, counselors and health teachers will assist the children.
Counselors from hub schools will collaborate with those from spoke schools to implement monthly activities, ensuring continuous support for students.
A systematic reporting process has been established. Spoke schools must send monthly reports to their respective hub schools. These reports will be compiled by the hub schools and sent to CBSE via a designated Google form by the 5th of each month. This process ensures that all activities are monitored and the quality and effectiveness of counseling services are maintained.
CBSE has also announced offline workshops for parents, school principals, and counselors/wellness teachers in September 2025. This initiative aims to bolster the Parenting Calendar for the 2025-26 year and enhance collaboration between families and schools.
The parenting workshop intends to improve the role of parents and counselors in understanding the academic, social, and emotional needs of children. The CBSE Parenting Workshop will be held in five major cities: Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Siliguri, Ludhiana, and Indore, from September 4 to 18, 2025. Each session will run from 10 am to 2 pm, with participants asked to arrive by 9:30 am. The workshops will take place in CBSE-affiliated schools, including DPS Nadergul (Hyderabad), DPS Bopal Square (Ahmedabad), Birla Divya Jyoti School (Siliguri), BCM School (Ludhiana), and Daly College (Indore).
