The 79th Independence Day will be celebrated on 15 August 2025. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hoist the national flag from the Red Fort in Delhi and will address the nation.

This time the theme is ‘New India’. Modi will address the nation for the 12th consecutive time from the ramparts of the Red Fort in Delhi. The PM will give the vision of India to the international fraternity with his address. Also, the entire address will be dedicated to the bravery of the army.

This year, 11 Agniveer will participate in the national anthem playing the national anthem for the first time. Also, there will be Operation Sindoor logo on the invitation card and the watermark of Chenab Bridge. Which reflects the rise of ‘New India’.

79th Independence Day schedule

  • The Prime Minister will be welcomed at the Red Fort, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Defense Sanjay Seth and Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.
  • Defense Secretary, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Delhi region, will introduce Lieutenant General Bhavnish Kumar to the Prime Minister.
  • GOC of Delhi will take PM Modi to the salute stage. The joint contingent of Inter Service and Delhi Police Guard will salute the PM.
  • The Guard of Honor Squad for the Prime Minister will include 96 personnel (there will be 24-24 soldiers from Army, Navy, Air Force and Delhi Police)
  • After the Guard of Honor, the Prime Minister will move towards the ramparts of the Red Fort. Where Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, CDS will be accompanied by all three army chiefs.
  • Flying officer Rashika Sharma will help the Prime Minister to hoist the national flag. Then 21 cannon salutes will be given.
  • For the first time, 11 Agniveer Musicians will be part of the band that will play the national anthem. After this, PM Modi will address the name of the nation.
