India’s 75th Constitution Day is being observed today, 26 November. This marks 75 years since the Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution of India on 26 November 1949, laying the foundation for the world’s largest democracy. Although the Constitution formally came into force on 26 January 1950, today serves as a moment of remembrance, reflection, and reaffirmation of India’s constitutional values.
As the nation celebrates this special milestone, events are being held across ministries, schools, universities, and public institutions to honour the spirit of the Constitution and its core principles of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. The government’s official theme for the 75th Constitution Day is “Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Swabhiman” (Our Constitution, Our Pride).
