In Surat city of Gujarat, a 6 to 7 day old newborn was thrown in a burnt condition by an unknown person. On Thursday morning, some people saw the dead body of a newborn in Bhimnagar Garnala of Udhna area and informed the police. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the newborn has been burnt with some chemical. Police have registered the case and started searching for the accused. This is the third incident involving newborns in Surat within seven days. Earlier on May 21, a newborn girl was found alive in Pandesara area, who is now healthy. Whereas on May 24, the body of a newborn girl was recovered from the bushes in Katargam area. In both these cases also the accused have not been identified yet. The newborn was burnt with chemicals. According to the information received from Udhna police, the entire body of the newborn was burnt. Preliminary medical examination has revealed that the newborn has been burnt with some chemical. The body of the newborn has been sent to Smeer Hospital in Surat for postmortem. Only after the postmortem report comes, it will be clear how old the newborn was, what was its gender identity and what was the exact cause of death. According to preliminary information, an attempt may have been made to burn the newborn with some inflammable substance or chemical in order to hide his identity. Police started searching for the accused. Based on the report, the police is preparing to add further legal sections. To reach the accused, Udhna police have started scanning the CCTV footage of the area. Suspicious activities late night or early morning in nearby shops, main roads and Garnala area are being investigated.
