7 AMU Students Selected For German Academic Exchange Service Scholarship – News18

AMU’s Public Relations Officer, Umar Peerzada mentioned that this achievement highlights the quality of education provided at the university.

The selection test was held on October 29.

Seven students who were studying German Language under the Foreign Languages Department at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Uttar Pradesh, have been reportedly selected for the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) scholarship. According to reports, these students will travel to Germany for further studies in July 2025.

Under this scholarship, the selected students will receive a stipend of around 2,559 Euros (approximately Rs 2.3 lakh) along with travel expenses, accommodation, tours of historical sites in Germany and tuition fees for a month-long course.

MA first-year student Ragib and six BA third-year students Zainul Abedin, Azhar Zia, Abdul Wase, Hareem Baig, Basil Iqbal and M. Kamran successfully passed the onset test conducted for German language proficiency in the department. As part of the selection process for the scholarship, the department, in collaboration with the DAAD office in Delhi, conducted an eligibility test at AMU. The entrance examination was also attended by DAAD representatives.

AMU’s Public Relations Officer, Umar Peerzada mentioned that this achievement highlights the quality of education provided at the university. “This scholarship will serve as a milestone in spreading foreign languages among the students. The students selected for this prestigious scholarship will have the opportunity to receive a quality education in the German language and experience Germany’s significant landmarks,” he said.

Professor Muhammad Azhar, Chairman of the Department and Dean, of the Faculty of International Studies, congratulated the selected students mentioning that this achievement is also an achievement of the faculty member of our university. “With the growing demand for foreign languages, this scholarship will serve as a significant milestone in promoting foreign language studies in our region,” he added.

The atmosphere at the university was filled with joy after the result of the selection process was announced. Another faculty mentioned that this reflects the vision of AMU’s founder, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. This achievement will surely encourage the other students to take part in similar things. Notably, the selection test was held on October 29.
