Indian-American Faizan Zaki, who lives in Texas, USA, won the 2025 Scrips National Spelling B competition held in the US.
Faizan Zaki, a 13-year-old Indian-American student, has won the title of ‘Scripps National Spelling B’, a America’s most difficult competition. He won the title by correctly pronouncing the French word ‘Eclaircissement’.
Last year, Faizan was second in this competition. He then lost to Bruhat Soma in the tiebreaker. Faizan is the 5th participant who won the title next year of the runner-up. This is the first time after Sean Conlay in 2001.
Students from primary and secondary schools participate in ‘Spelling B’. This is a competition related to the correct spelling of words.
45 lakh rupees received after victory Faizan has received $ 52,500 (about Rs 45 lakh) as a reward. He won $ 25,000 (Rs 21.29 lakh) last year, which has now increased his total prize money of $ 77,500 (Rs 66.31 lakh).

Practice 6 hours daily
Faizan first participated in Spell B at the age of 7. In 2023, he was out in the Wocab Round. This time the preparation changed. Recall more and more words from the shared list of 30 words and practiced more words in 90 seconds.
Speed practice was also included in the routine. Throughout the year, her routine was completely dedicated to spelling B. He used to practice 6 hours daily. Every day it became his habit to read new words, understand their spelling and meaning and repeat them again and again.
The result of this vigorous practice was that in the final, the winning word without hesitation could be properly spelled.

The ‘National Spelling B’ competition was started in 1925. According to Scripps, the first competition was held in 1925 in Washington, DC and only nine children participated in it. Eleven -year -old Frank Nuhoser was given a $ 500 gold coins as won.
